    About Us

ACT Multi Academy Trust is a small but ambitious family of five primary schools across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, united by the belief that children achieve, belong and thrive when schools work together. Rooted in strong values, high expectations and genuine collaboration, ACT exists to deliver excellent education for every pupil, in every classroom, every day.

Established in September 2023 with the support of the Diocese of Ely, ACT Multi Academy Trust brings together Buckden CE Primary Academy, St Michael’s Church School (Peterborough), Burrough Green CE Primary, Great Wilbraham CE Primary, and St Mary’s Primary Academy (St Neots). Each academy has its own distinct character and community, yet all share a common purpose: to give every child the best possible start in life.

We believe schools are strongest when they work in partnership. Our size allows us to remain closely connected, ensuring that collaboration is purposeful and that every school receives the right balance of challenge and support. Leaders and teachers work together through trust-wide networks, curriculum forums and professional learning communities, drawing on collective expertise to drive improvement and innovation.

At ACT, education is ambitious, evidence-informed and deeply purposeful. Our ACT Frame underpins teaching and learning across the trust, bringing together the principles that shape great classroom practice. It supports teachers to plan for knowledge and memory, explain and model clearly, respond thoughtfully to pupils’ needs and create calm, focused environments where every child can learn successfully. We invest heavily in professional development, recognising that confident, reflective staff create the best conditions for pupils to achieve, belong and thrive.

Inclusion sits at the heart of all we do. We are proud to serve diverse communities and are committed to ensuring that every child, whatever their starting point, experiences success and feels a deep sense of belonging. Our approach is evidence-informed and values-driven, focusing not only on academic outcomes but on the character, curiosity and confidence our pupils carry into the wider world.

We are not a trust that seeks to grow quickly. We are small by design - close enough to know each school well and to respond swiftly when support is needed. Our focus is on sustainable improvement, meaningful collaboration and the long-term success of the pupils, staff and communities we serve.

    Why Join ACT?

Schools and staff choose ACT because of our partnership culture. We work with schools, not to them. Support is bespoke, professional dialogue is valued, and autonomy is respected. We believe that genuine collaboration and openness to reflection are the cornerstones of continual improvement.

Joining ACT means becoming part of a connected network where expertise is shared freely and professional growth is championed. From subject and leadership networks to our trust-wide CPD offer, we create opportunities for every colleague to learn from others and to contribute to collective excellence.

We are a values-led trust that believes in ambition for every child, balance for every staff member, and belonging for every school. If your vision aligns with ours - to help pupils achieve, belong and thrive - we would be delighted to connect.

We believe in growing capacity within each school and celebrating their individuality – we have decided that we want to nurture individuality rather than impose a set blueprint on every school that works with us. Each school is unique and that should be celebrated. Where schools want support and advice, then the Trust will ensure that this happens.

We believe that operating as a MAT gives us a bright future where we work with a range of people who share similar philosophies.
